Friday Update 11/22/24

This week my main goal was to put some words down on my scifi short story for BSQ Magazine. I’m close to 8k on that and closing in on the expected 10k total to finish it off. That will happen next week and in more than enough time to give it a fine-toothed proofread before I submit to the editor.

I have three short stories currently on the magazine market. Raze was rejected from Analog this week and sent out to Clarksworld. Beholder was rejected from Azimov and sent to Interzone where it was also rejected. Lovelace was rejected from Analog and sent to Azimov. Which means I close the week with 2 of 3 on the market. I need to get Beholder back out to another market first thing on Monday.

Admin work has been falling rapidly off the list this week. I’ve made significant progress in my Audio backlog for short stories. Now comes the work of uploading files to both Bookfunnel (for direct sales on my website) and Kobo. Additionally, I reformatted Last Flight of the Hornets and Perihelion, both to refine the funnel that new readers move through as they find my work.

Most of my short stories point to Last Flight as the free story you get in exchange for signing up to my newsletter. I wanted to make sure Last Flight very clearly points to something else, so now the reformat directs people straight to Perihelion. And Perihelion now directs people to What The Sun Sees, since that’s in the same Queenships universe.

When I finally write Sunskimmer, book 2 in Queenships, I’ll point Perihelion to that instead and start people along the series path. BUT! until then, I’ll know this funnel is working when I see sales of What The Sun Sees.

Additionally, I’ve started formatting book 1 of Hellebore Vampires and I’ve commissioned the ebook/Audio cover. If I’ve explained my vision well enough for the designer, I’ll commission book 2 covers right away.

The Hellebore Vampires series is available to read for free on my website: https://www.tamiveldura.com/vampire-mated-chapter-one/ but you need a free membership to access it. These books will release via Kickstarter March of next year. I’ll start linking to that as soon as I have cover art to show off on the banner.

I’m working on character art as well, which I’ll share here when I feel like I have a clue what I’m doing in that regard.

Finally, Mr V and I have been playing Stardew Valley every evening. It’s a favorite for both of us and has been a lovely way to wind down before bed. <3
